Hmmm my inner juries still out-Time travelers wife

I liked this book.
But sometimes I didn't.
Though I cried at the end.
Sometimes I felt that the two main characters were just missing some of the grit of life. Towards the end Henry seemed to flesh out a little more. And Kimmy was adorable, still I feel kind of empty towards it.

I enjoyed reading a novel again though. I've spent too long looking at forums and blogs, it's been nice to chew the meat of a whole book!

Collecting

I thought I'd join in with Meet Me At Mikes weekly blog homework and this week theme is collecting. Well I racked my brain trying to choose what to include; Crockery, napery, stationary, knit patterns, uke music, my precious complete Golden Hands books or my magazine collection.

My husband decided to make this easier by taking the camera into work, but I still have the scanner!

Now I haven't counted, but I would have over 100 vintage mags from the '20s through to now (though I wish I'd kept that 3D Dolly from the '80s- it was magical) so I had to narrow it down.
I chose the '50s because there is a sumptuousness to these covers, war was over, lifestyles and incomes were on the up and there seems to be an air of possibility.

So please enjoy

Home Decor

Lets start with 1966 Aust. Better Homes & Gardens. Take away the carnations and you could be looking at a Modern lounge!

Here's a page from 1959 Aust Home Journal

Don't you just love the Horse on the
 TV.

And I would repaint my china cabinet Red, if I had one.

This is from a doorstop of a Book from the mid fifties called Newnes Better Home Making- oh what a treasure trove for so many things but the decor sections are STUNNING!

On a different Colour ideal here is a room displayed in the Aust Women's Weekly 1969.
Part of me is revolted by this room and the                                           other half of me loves it.

This is a from a book from the 50's attached to a Sunday news paper. The Australian Home Decorator and Painter. It's chock full of goodness with perfect colour charts and furniture tips. I will use this as soon as I'm able to repaint

Vocabulary early 20 century style

Well hello!
